I am delighted to announce the inclusion of the Journal of Skin and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (JSSTD) in EMBASE and EMCARE, two premier biomedical and pharmacological nursing databases recognized globally for their rigor and comprehensive indexing of scientific literature from January 2025. This achievement is a testament to the high-quality contributions of our authors, reviewers, and editorial board, and it marks a significant milestone in the journal’s journey toward greater visibility and impact. On behalf of the editorial board, I sincerely thank our contributors, reviewers, and readers. Let me thank everyone who supported JSSTD and made this possible. I should mention the unique role of Dr. Sarita S and Dr. K Samad, who reared the journal in its infancy.
EMBASE and EMCARE, both maintained by Elsevier, are renowned for their extensive coverage of biomedical literature, including journals, conference abstracts, and systematic reviews. Their meticulous indexing standards ensure that only journals meeting stringent quality criteria are included in the study. The indexing process thoroughly evaluates a journal’s content quality, editorial standards, and relevance to the medical and scientific community. We recognize this achievement as a call to maintain and elevate the standards of our journal. We look forward to continuing this journey with your invaluable contributions. Being indexed in EMBASE and EMCARE adds more responsibility to us to keep the standards high.
Inclusion in EMBASE and EMCARE provides several significant benefits. It enhances the journal’s visibility, ensuring that JSSTD’s articles reach a wider global audience. In addition, indexing increases citation visibility, enabling greater recognition of the impactful research published in our journal. This milestone also underscores JSSTD’s credibility as a trusted source of information and encourages us to try to get included in other databases, including MEDLINE.
I am sure that this milestone will inspire us to set new targets to achieve meaningful impacts in dermatology and sexually transmitted diseases.
Kerala dermatologists lost four eminent colleagues in the past year. Dr. P Sugathan, the Doyen of Dermatology, will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a guiding light for Indian dermatologists. Dr. Seena P, Dr. Sabeena Jeyapalan, and Dr. Anitha Sankar were three young teachers loved by their students and patients. Let us pay homage to these exceptional dermatologists.
This issue of JSSTD has a variety of interesting research reports, reviews, and case reports. It includes two interesting studies on sexually transmitted infections before and after the COVID-19 pandemic from different geographic areas. A comprehensive review of the current status of dupilumab in managing various diseases is published in two parts. A series of unusual presentations of cutaneous disorders are published as case reports and net cases. The Quiz on Dermoscopy of Infectious dermatoses and contact dermatitis will interest our readers.
Warm regards,
Dr K. Ajithkumar,
Editor-in-Chief Journal of Skin and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
