Dear Friends,
With immense pleasure, we bring you Volume 4, Issue 1 of Journal of Skin and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (JSSTD). This is the first issue published after the second editorial team took charge in November 2021. It’s a privilege and great honor to serve as the Editor-in-Chief of JSSTD, the official publication of IADVL Kerala. I express my sincere gratitude to IADVL Kerala Executive Committee, and each and every member of IADVL Kerala, for trusting me with this responsibility.
I was fortunate to be part of the first editorial team (as an Associate Editor) under the able and inspiring leadership of Dr. K. Abdul Samad. I thank Samad sir for all his guidance and advice. I consider the rich experience of working with him for JSSTD to be my best asset to start this new journey.
Dr. Bifi Joy, who was also an Associate Editor in Samad sir’s team, has taken charge as the Deputy Editor. We are glad that the editorial team is strengthened by the addition of several young and enthusiastic academicians and clinicians.
In the first issue of fourth volume of JSSTD, we have an invited commentary on “Challenges faced by clinicians conducting research at non-teaching institutions” and the authors suggest solutions for the same. This issue’s symposium deals with “Immunotherapy in dermatology.” The symposium covers three aspects – “Immunotherapy in skin cancers,” “Immune-enhancing agents in autoimmune skin diseases,” and “Topical and intralesional immunotherapy in cutaneous infections.” The issue also contains review articles, original articles, history section, case report, study letter, resident’s page, and a net section comprising net cases, net letters, and net image.
The greatest advantage of the current editorial team is the strong foundation laid by the first team; the untiring efforts of the past 3 years have enabled JSSTD to bring you quality articles at regular intervals and this places a greater responsibility on all of us. As rightly said, the success of each generation is a testimony to the greatness of its predecessor. Each generation also has a duty to strive hard to bequeath a legacy that would inspire its successors.
This is a daunting task. However, we have complete faith in the support and cooperation of our authors, the reviewers (who are silently and selflessly contributing to the success of the journal), our esteemed editorial board members, IADVL Kerala Executive Committee, and each and every member of IADVL Kerala. We are sure that your goodwill and blessings would take JSSTD to deserving heights.
We are honored to publish this year’s two issues as the ‘IADVL Kerala Golden Jubilee’ issues as a tribute to the great visionaries, who worked hard to earn the reputed status which IADVL Kerala enjoys today.
Thanking you all once again for giving me this opportunity to serve JSSTD and seeking your cooperation and blessings,
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Sarita Sasidharanpillai
Editor-in-Chief, JSSTD
